I think I have found a nice pub that does real ales not far from the venue. We could meet up at Counting House around lunchtime, have something to eat and then wander down. The pub is called Blackfriar's and is on Bell Street (stones throw from the venue): http://www.blackfriarsglasgow.com/

Does anyone know this pub who can give us an insight in to it?

A very good pub with real ale and an excellent selection of malts and one I frequent regularly. It is a long narrow pub and gets very busy on a Saturday, and pretty much any other day, with an eclectic mix of customers from construction workers on their way home to ladies who lunch, hen parties to twin set and pearl grans. As it's not part of a chain the prices are more expensive than the counting house but you do get a bar person who knows their trade and a real pub atmosphere. If you really want to splash out the food here is first rate and freshly prepared so as you might expect it is considerably more expensive than counting house but not so much that it's unaffordable.

Trust me you need to watch out for those pearls. One sip of sherry and every male in a 5 yard radius is fair game

I'm glad to hear it. She'll certainly keep you in order. Looks like we don't have to lock up the grannies after all.   I should be able to make it if I can get that day off work.
